(No, you don't need special fonts anymore, it detects your TCMD settings.
If you need a decent font though, try Eternal Dreams.)
Installation should be automatic in newer versions of Total Commander
as soon as you open the .ZIP.
Otherwise, open the Lister (i.e. press F3 on some file), select
Options / Configure..., press LS-Plugins, and press Add.
You can also reach this window from the main window's Options.
